Well I took a new job today. I will be getting more money then my last job and a company vehicle. The issue is the company will be giving me a new F250 pay for all expenses, maintence, give me a gas card, and allow me to use it for a personal vehicle too. I don't think they would be to happy if I went wheeling with it in moab, but wouldn't have an issue with me driving down there to go biking or camping. The new job will probably mean this summer I won't be able to get away to wheel as much as I'd like, this fall and next summer I'm sure I'll be able to get away, but I think I'll be working my ass off for the next 6 to 8 months to get in good with the company and make a favorible impression. Here's the issue, I won't need my 95 D1 with 122k miles anymore as a daily driver, we have another car I use for long road trips instead of the disco anyway, so this company truck isn't my only vehicle. So this creates some questions. I owe money on the rover, selling it could save me money. I could save till fall, and buy a newer truck, maybe more modified then mine or find a nice defender. So here are my questions, should I sell the disco? Should I keep it? Since this truck is becoming a third vehicle to me I could do the big tires and lift and lock it up because I don't have to drive everyday. I have been happy with my truck, but not ready to modify it further than I have because of the need to drive it 68 miles a day for my old work commute. That being the case, the arguement for owning a defender and modifing it becomes quite strong. I admit I have always had defender envy, but never wanted to own one because they aren't as practical as a disco, well now I could own one because it will be a play thing, not primary transportation. Should I buy a newer d1, maybe a modified one, I mean lower mileage and newer would be nice. Should I just keep mine and start really modifing it (lockers,axles,3" lift with spacers, etc.). My truck is fairly stock now, 30" tires, md ome lift, arb on front, a rack, some protection on the bottom. It's fun and great offroad, but would like to lock it up, but haven't wanted to because of its daily driver role. If I replace it, or modify it, I will likely have whatever I get for a really long time as a expedition/wheeling rig. Would a newer disco 1 with lower miles be a better starting point than my current d1? Should I give into defender envy, I mean a well sorted out defender could end up being in the long run the ticket. I'm getting a hugh truck, plenty of space to haul bits and pieces of a CDK 110 home, or to put together a dream rig from the ground up. Sorry for the long post, I'm just looking for any advice. thanks

Andy, there is thing called "paragraph", you know:-) that was actually painfull to read.

As of selling - think about this - i dont know how much you owe right now, but you will get from sale like what - 3-5K? Will it pay off your debt? But then you will get into new one, buying other truck.

I'd say - keep it (if you so far happy with t), save as you planned, but use $ for mods that you always wanted. Overwise you will have to get loan for new truck and then start saving all over again for mods, but will be not doing them b/c truck will be not fully yours yet, blah blah.. you know the routine :-)

I agree with Sergei....keep it and modify it....if you buy another Disco or a Defender you might buy one of those that everyone keeps complaining about here on the board, then you would be off roading and need something to tow you every where

Sorry, I wrote that after I got my counter offer excepted. I was too excited to think straight or use paragraphs.

I could sell my truck for under blue book value and I should break even without to much trouble. A 99 d1 with low miles and perfect condition maybe worth the loan. Or go to a defender, its added stock capablities could be worth the loan too. I don't know, but the clean slate or different vehicle build up sounds fun to me, it just feels like I'm selling my a loyal friend just get something newer.

Actually I'm getting a great tow rig (V8 powerstroke diesel). After all the stuff on my rover I have replaced and all the maintence I've done. I don't think another rover would be an issue. Besides if it breaks and pisses me off I can leave for a while till I want to fix it. This won't be my daily driver.

truggy? Did he buy it? If I keep my disco I want to try put a d2 interior in it, just for the hell of it. I'll admit, that 97 of JP's really got the envy going. Of course it is so clean and well set up who won't want it.

ANDY.. the vultures have been circling over Curtis's house. Bear in mind, if he decides to part out the truck, I have first dibs on the seats since I stained the passenger seat when we rolled.
