When on intermitant the wipers go up and stay up. Is the switch, a resistor somewhere or the motor?

mine just started to do the same a few days ago. At first I thought my windsheild was sticky but it just seems the motor has gotten weak??

Hopefully someone else has some input... I'll be looking at mine this weekend if i solve my troble I'll let you know how..

IMO its got to be the motor...

That's what happens when you put Viagra in the windshield washer jug.

Have you guys checked the bolt that holds the wiper assymbly on?

These bolts get loose over time and can cause some interesting issues.

There is a little cover at the base of the wiper arm that comes off and reveals the nut....check to make sure it is tight (after you put the wipers where you want them to start)

Somewhat related.
My CJ-7 did the same thing and it turned out the linkage had become a little bent somehow. I disconnected the wiper linkage at the motor and moved it through its normal range of motion by hand. If I felt tension in the linkage I would bend it a little by eye. I fixed the problem in about 30 minutes. I am not sure how the disco's work. If they use a wiper linkage system to connect the individual wipers it may be worth a look.

Also, if the bolt is loose it could, in theory, cause enough friction to make the wipers bind and stand erect. :-)

I actually just had the same problem...$14 relay switch was the fix. I had tried loobing, massaging and carressing the motor and joints....but you can't coerce a nerve problem!!!

Good question....all my engineering exists int he chemicals dept. I called Rovershoppe who did the work and it is:

WYB10032L (also called a load relay). Located in the remote fuse box (right hand footwell).

Hope this helps.

My problem was primarily with the intermittent settings sticking. Also the (1 time) swipe hold stop at different loactions (ususally in the middle of the windshield).

Sam, can you be a bit more specific on the relay that was replaced. I spoke to AB and the part number you spplied above is not a rover part number/./.

which relay is it exactly? does it have any other description and location?

This problem has been plauging me for a year or so...im happy to hear you were able to have it fixed./
I sent you an email too, but im sure we all want to know!

Thanks

just a bump here...I spoke with the guy who fixed the problem on sams truck

he let me know which relay it is...under the passanger side footwell, there are 2 black relays. The one closest to the seat, is the one they replaced on his truck. The other black one, which is closer to the firewall is for the fuel system

just a FYI

gonna go hit napa tommorow
