Hi,
I am looking at purchasing a 2004 Disco SE. I would like to know if anyone has had any experiences with them good or bad? Also, is it worth getting SLS? What other options would you get, or not get?
Thanks
Frank

The 2004 has ETC and the CDL is back in it so you have the best of both worlds. Fit and finish seems to be quite nice from the ones I've seen.

If you plan on wheeling the truck, the SLS may not be a good feature in terms of durability (it seems more geared towards towing type applications). For the odd light wheeling, it may not be much of an issue. ACE might not be needed either (I'm not even sure if they come with it anymore). A lot of these air assisted features are things that can break off-roading but if you plan on driving this vehicle mostly on-road, then they're nice to have as it makes the ride nicer.

Really depends on what you want to do with the truck and if you plan on modfiying it down the road. If so, then keep the truck simple with less of the "bells and whistles" that just complicate things.

I'm not sure what's changed from 03 to 04, but my 03 doesn't have the "bells and whistles" like ACE and SLS and I wouldn't want it to. Just more things to break. I've had very good experiences with my '03 but if you're getting an '04 I wouldn't waste my money on their "trail edition" packages.

I purchased a 2004 S back in November and love it. This is my first Land Rover and have been nothing but impressed. I was torn between the S and the SE but decided on the S as I didn't need all of the "extras" on the SE. My truck spends much of the summer in the mountains and I figured the simpler the better. Besides, now I have more money to spend on modifying it:-)

BTW, I think the Duragrain is great. I have two kids that are constanatly spilling crap and I am carrying wet people in it most weekends. The stuff cleans up with a quick wipe down of 303 Protectant.

I really appreciate the info so far. I will be doing some off-roading in the future. Please keep the info coming.

I'm not sure about the '04, I can't afford one. From what I've seen of them they seem like they finally have all the good stuff from the last ten years in one. After you buy it, drop it off with me for about a week. Only then will I be able to give you my honest opinion.
