I'm replacing my headliner the weekend. I ordered the fabric from www.headlinerkit.com/ in Georgia. I thought if anyone else in the Raleigh area wanted to replace their headliner we could do it at the same time and help each other.
Shoot me an email if anyone is intereseted. Also, if anyone has some tips to make it go smoother your help would be appreciated.

Rob

Several years ago i had my headliner replaced in a shop in downtown Raleigh. Cost over $400. The main reason I did not do this myself is because of the sunroof(which was the part that was sagging anyway). Also the sun shade has rattled ever since.

Maybe we could do yours, then I would know how do do mine next time.

Are you talking about next to 42nd street. I have had them do some work for me. They do a good job but they quoted me $350 and I thought I could get it done for a 1/4 of that. It has taken me a long time to get around to it though.

Guys, please do not talk about Raleigh or 42nd Street Bar on here.

I'm from NC and went to school at State and miss it so much...

It make me sad that I am not there :-(

Brad,

I believe you need the 60 inch Headliner which is wider and an etra yard length (3 yards). Here is the url:
http://www.headlinerkit.com/60/60.shtml.

Bill,

I was sitting at Mitch's Tavern on Hillsborough street after a racquetball game at the downtown YMCA. Place has not changed much in a long while. Raleigh however is much different. You wouldn't recognize the place.

I've posted on this topic several times over the last year. Finally compiled a tech article and sent to D-Web. But where is it???

Send an email to Ho Chung and tell him to post the big write-up I sent him a few months back about replacing a headliner in a D1. I sent him detailed instructions and lots of pics. Some of the pics were LR manual diagrams, but the rest were my own photos. Kept inquiring about why it wasn't posted but never heard back...

You should not plan to do this job by yourself. I've replaced several headliners and a Disco headliner is a PITA. My advice: pay a professional automotive upholstery shop as you'll be much happier with the final product.

To late to turn back now! I already ordered the headliner.
I was planning on doing the removal of the headliner and the removal of the backing and then letting the wife tackle the actual placing of the headliner on the board. Then I can blame any mistakes on her.

Drew,

Can you email me the write up you did?
