Is a P rated 245/75/16 too light for Disco 1, w/ light load (no winch, stock bumpers, light roof rack)?

P = PESSENGER
LT = LIGHT truck
you own the latter.

something you might find helpful www.tirerack.com/tires/tiretech/general/speed.htm

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tiretech/general/size_information.html

It has the load and speed ratings of tires, a very handy source when shopping around.

I agree with Nadim, expcept that P stands for P- metric I think. I had P metrics on my Disco or awhile and got rid of them because they were no good off road. The new tire were LT and I really like the way the truck rides now. Much less steering slop and better handling. The ride has not noticeably changed either. FWIW, I switched from a cushy Michelin to an aggressive Dunlop.

As you can see from the 2 diff sites, it depends on where the P is located in the tire size, either at the front or the rear of the dimensions
