Everyone-I have a 2000 DII SD without the H-K system. I am considering replacing the stock speakers as I can get a good deal on some new Infinity speakers through a friend. Do I have 6.5s in all 4 of my doors? I know the DIs have problems with depth of new speakers, do the DIIs have a problem? Crutchfield has no data for LRs, thus I post here. Is speaker replacement hard to do? I assume I would have to pull the whole door panel off. PS-I am not new to this board, I just had to re-register because I can't remember my user ID and password. Thanks! Chris |

Hmm, i replaced mine (97 D1) by taking the old ones out and putting the new ones in. There tricky though. I had to do some minor adjustments.I didnt have to pull the door panel off, just the grille. You might want to ask someone in the car stereo field. \// |

Chris, It's either 6" or 6.5" in all of the doors. I have to go back and double check my receipts to be sure though. It's been two years since I did my 2001 SD.

Chris, I replaced my stock speakers with Diamond Audio M561 speakers, which is of the 6.5" variety. |

Craig - what do you think of them? My wife wants a set for her car - all the reviews I've read say they're really damn good. But I haven't chatted to anyone who actually owns some. Want to find out before I drop a few hundred on some speakers. thanks Jeff |

Craig, did you do the replacement yourself? If so, did putting in the 6.5s in all 4 doors require any modifications? I can't find any reliable info and I don't feel like tearing into the door not knowing the issues I may run into. Please elaborate on the install of your Diamonds. Thanks! |

Chris, No mods necessary for me. The speakers were a drop in replacement. Just have to take off the front door pocket off for the front doors, and the rear speaker grill just pops off. Just be careful that you don't break the door panel. It's a foam / plastic and flexes very easily. |
