95 Disco with 99,000 miles: yesterday I was driving at 15mph on washboard and my tach started dropping 500 rpm every second or so. My first thought was alternator, but then I noticed the truck was actually slowing down each time, so it's not the tach. I put it in neutral while still coasting along the washboard, and the engine died. Pulled over, it started right up. Popped the hood and wiggled the coil wires, since we had problems with them before; but they were okay. Wiggled the wiring harness going into the Throttle Position Sensor, and I could hear the engine slow down and pick up speed again each time I moved the wires. Thought the wires coming out of the TPS were broken, and pulled the wiring harness out to where I could disconnect the connector. After rearranging the harnes, but before I disconnected the connector, no amount of wiggling would duplicate the symptom, so I took it back on washboard, and all was fine. I disassembled the connector - it was tight, and no obvious corrosion on the three contacts. Sprayed it with contact cleaner for good measure, reassembled, and went back on washboard - all is still fine. Until the symptoms reoccur, I can only conclude that there was a bad connection inside the TPS connector. Anyone else ever have something like this happen to them?

P.S. For those of you who remember my posts from last spring, the exhaust manifolds are still glowing red (and the dealer checked it out and said all was in spec, nothing they could do about it).

Thanks for any comments.
John
