What is the best tyre pressure for highway use in 265/75R16 MT/R's with a D load range mounted on a D1? |

Do a search. There's lots of different opinions on what pressure to use. |

I run 38 in the front, 45 in the rear on highway with BFGs on heavy D2. I tried 2 methods to check if my tire pressure was correct. I used the coloring the tread with chalk and also the comparison of psi when tires are cold, then taking the psi when they're hot. I still couldn't figure it out so I finally asked someone who knew for sure. Good Luck, Jamie |

Jamie: Have you tried one of these?
OK, I cannot resist. What's this chalk coloring all about? |

Put a chalk line across the tread & drive around the block. If it's worn off in the middle the tire is overinflated, on the edges, underinflated. Toy w/ the pressures untill it wears evenly all the way across. |

Yes, Bill I do have one. The first day I used my tank, I ran the tank dry and also had to stop frequently to thaw out frosty frozen regulator. I guess it's a "girl thing": the standard air chuck was almost impossible for me to use. I couldn't hold it on the stem correctly. Since getting the tire pressure filler guage, it's almost too easy to use! When I ordered that from exedition exchange, I also got the quick disconnects for it, my power tank and my air gun. I put the tire gage filler and all my power tank tools/accessories into a clear waterproof map case and keep it secured around the neck of my tank (below and clear of the regulator). Everything is in one place and I never have to hunt for anything - which is really nice. It came in very handy for the month and a half that I was losing 2-3 psi every few days. Made that easy to live with until I found someone who could break the beadlock on my tire again to clean it out. How do you like yours?? Did you have new valve stems put on when you mounted your new tires? Have you had a chance to play with your new tires yet?? I hear you've got snow out there! |

I've got these aligator things--Alligator Double Seal Valve Caps--they rock... best $2.00 you can spend. If you get them, paint them flat black so no one wants them more than you do. Tire test is tomorrow. We've got a trail clearing for a dealer event next week, and it has rained and rained and rained. I'm anticipating a one hell of a mess. No snow here in Houston--too far south. But, there was snow a bit north. Why do you run your tire pressure so high? |

I'll check those out! Oh, you're going to have a blast in your workin' truck!! Because that is what Bill told me to run them at. Since he was the one who picked them, I figure he's the best boss to obey I lower psi when neccessary offroad. He told me the lowest psi to run them when offroad too. I do not have to air down often, the tires get me through stuff I would have to have been dragged through stock to get to the other side. There were 2 reason why running them higher was best, but I forget why. It might have been - they will last longer? and they're quiet that way? Please let me know how your test goes!! You are in for a good day!! |

Well, I did not get stuck or have to be pulled out. I guess that says something. Ultimately the day looked a lot like this:
