well the shop yesterday was putting on my remote starter and keyless entry since i never had a remote for my 97 disco. well any way they went to test the keyless part after they got it installed and the alarm went off and now there is no power to my locks and the truck won't start. before when the alarm went off i just unlocked the door with the key and it reset itself but now only drivers door unlucks when i use the key and still the engine won't start. does any one have any ideas what to do because now they think they might have to send it to rover land to have them fix it..and i don't live close to a dealer if ya know what i mean..

97 Disco has the GEMS (engine management) and alarm ECU interface.

Whomever wired it up for you probably tried to bypass part of the alarm ECU which in turn signalled GEMS not to start.

Unfortunately if the shop that did the work doesn't know enough about the truck to realize that there is an interface between GEMS and alarm ECU - then it probably will have to go to an independent ROver shop or dealer to fix. I'd bet the dealer though will just put it back to stock and wouldn't mess with any aftermarket system.

ok since there is no power to the door locks and no starting with the alarm active and the key doesn't reset the alarm like it used to is there a way without the remote to reset the alarm

John,

No luck on my remote start instalation yesterday either. The installer basically threw the towel in after 6 hours of tracing wires. Does anyone have precise wire colors and locations for the remote starter installation? Is there an electrical document available? Two sources we used were different - and both wrong. Come on - the greatest truck out there should be worthy of a remote starter! PLEASE HELP!

Have you tried using the key in the drivers door and when unlocking it(Visualize) twist your wrist as far as it will go twice in rapid sucession (Visualize)

This may un "Super Lock" it and enable the locks and fuel pump.

On my 03 locking it once locks the truck and twice Super Locks it and unlocking it once unlocks the drv door and twice all the doors. Your setup may be different but it may be worth a try and if all else fails talk to a rover mechanic maby 2 or 3 since it is an obscure problem.
