95 disco 120k on the clock. I am having severe power loss. I put the gas down and I’m going nowhere, but the rpm are shooting up. I have had the diagnostics read and it reads “fuel supply problem”. The check engine light is not showing which is a whole other problem. I have replaced the fuel filter and same problem stayed. Hooked up a fuel pressure tester and at idle it reads 32psi and when key is in the second position the pressure drops to zero, truck has never had a problem starting hot or cold. Also, at speed it's jerky, like the break is being put on and taken off for a millisecond repeatedly, VSS maybe, all of this happend at the same time? Sounds like the fuel pump, but I just don't know. It could be the fuel pump, leaky injectors, fuel pressure regulator, TPS, VSS or a combination or each. The archives have been helpful but, I can't tell which direction to go next.

Charles

You might just want to replace that fuel pump. It will probably fail within a couple of years anyway. Sounds like it may be causing the symptoms you described in your post.

Leaky injectors would not cause this problem. VSS would also affect speedometer and crusie contol. Fuel pressure reg not likely unless the vacuum hose between it and the intake manifold is disconnected/cracked. TPS is possibility and very easy to check by swapping.

if you want to see if it is your vss just unplug it and go for a ride if the ride is better and the problem goes away then you know you got it. unplugging your vss won't hurt a thing i drove for two weeks without it i just didn't know how fast i was going

"The check engine light is not showing which is a whole other problem"

If the CEL does not go through self test then you have an ECU issue.

Need to address that first.
