While driving in stop & go traffic, all three warning lights came on accompanied by 3 chimes. Front and rear brake pads were worn down as were the rotors. I replaced all pads and rotors (they needed replacing) hoping the lights would clear and systems would work again, but they did not. Disconnected the battery, but still no change.

Is it likely the warning lights had anything to do with the brake system being worn down? If so, how are the lights cleared?

Try this, disconnect all the sensors, drive the truck around the block. Plug them back in and drive the truck again. See if that reset the SLABS ecu...got that little trick from a tech. If that doesn't work, you'll need to visit the dealer and have them read what faults the SLABS ecu is throwing...could be a bad sensor.

Sounds like a bad sensor to me. It just had the ABS sensor changed.
Gus.

Derick - the three chimes indicates a more permanent ABS sensor fault, and you will have to take it to the dealer to reset the lights with the testbook. Its got nothing to do with the rotors or pads, its the sensors or other ABS system, have you checked the wires? If the computer doesn't reset the lights when you reach 9 mph, then its flagged as permanent, according to the shop manual.

Dealer says my discovery was configured for ACE package which it does not have and is charging $100.00. I asked if Land Rover does the configuring and they said probably not, but that it could have been anybody, but in any case it is out of warranty, so too bad. Seems to me this is something Land Rover should take care of regardless of warranty, am I out in left field?

They should, but they wont. I dont know what the ACE package has to do with the ABS. What a surprise that it happened after the warranty expired. If LR did not do the configuring, then a dealer did, either way their dicks if they dont reconfigure it for free. Try going to another dealer or indepentant shop.

Derick, I know it sucks but at least you did not have to have a really expensive repair. What I dont see though is why the hell this did not become a problem until after 50k........

They reconfigured it already so all I can do now is the ask to "speak with your manager!" bit. We'll see how it goes. I'll promise to bring it back for the $800.00 tune up service and have them fix two oil leaks for $2,200.00 that he suggested I do.

Matt, only possible links I can think of are worn down break sytem (not likely) and few days after OME lift (more likely?)

Derick,

Mine did the same thing. Testbook said I had ACE, which I don't. Not to rub salt in your wound, but I went to my independent repair guy, and he reset it for free. I guess the computer lost its mind that day. Problem hasn't come back since.

Mine came on about two weeks ago. My '01 DII is now about 55k miles. My ABS works fine.

Has anyone here found this to be a faulty or disconnected sensor or just a reset with Testbook to clear the codes?

When this happened to mine some grounds had gone bad and 1/2 hour of labor fixed it. Check them out.
