Travis, according to Gulf Coast Rovers it's 3.25" - that's the stock backspacing.

My 16 x 7 American Racing Black Nugget steel rims from Gulf Coast Rovers have 4.25 backspacing, which sticks out about 1 inch, perfect.

Yea, I just got some 15x8's from them, - they make it look about 10 times better, don't they, Joseph?

From what I can find out, GCR is the only ones in the US that sells LR rims with a bigger backspacing - something about an exclusive contract with the company in Canada that makes them.

I have 285/75/16 ssr's and they rub on the radius arm and on the rear spring perch and wheel well under articulation. Im trying to decide whether to go with the nato wheels or american racing wheels from GCR to help eliminate the rubbing

Travis, you can adjust the turning stop-bolt to stop the front rubbing on the radius arms, but you lose some turning radius. Going to a bigger backset would remedy that.

If the rears are rubbing the rear fender well and not the body, a bigger backset wouldn't help. You probably need some bigger bump stops. If it's rubbing the body, then get out the cutoff wheel.

Either way, you may have to trim the body if you go to a bigger offset. Are you ready to cut up your truck?

Yea Jay, HUGE difference! They make the truck look more capable to do what it was intended for. Also, the little bit of offset is just perfect to widen the stance which is good for no-rubbing (or little) and with performance. They say if you lift the truck you should use wider offset, there is a formula somewhere. Anyway, I did the OME lift and 265's and I only had to trim about an inch on the front bumper endcaps.

Also, MiMi at GCR is a great gal to do business with! They had my wheels to me the next day!

ONE MORE THING, I saw a set of American Racing wheels 15x7 on EBAY for $80

nato wheel offset = 20.6mm
stock wheel offset = 33mm

nato wheel's centerline sticks out almost half inch more than stock.

from there, you can figure out the backspacing. :-)

Aren't NATO wheels only 6.5" wide? That's what I remember mine being. Doesn't that mean although offset is 13mm less, the outside rim lip will be in the same position as stock?

Tires SHOULD only be 2" wider than the wheels you put them on. I'm pushing my luck with 285's on stock wheels, but they seem to stay on the bead better being a little too wide.

"They make the truck look more capable to do what it was intended for."

If all you are looking for is looks, go for the GCR rims and why not throw in a set of 35" Boggers. It will look great?? Better yet, why not some 38.5" Thornbirds? It will look super capable.

yep, 6.5 inches wide. now that you've found the diagram showing backspacing and offset, you do the math. :-)

Mike, here's the rest of that:

"Also, the little bit of offset is just perfect to widen the stance which is good for no-rubbing (or little) and with performance."

So no, it's not about looks, but a stock D1 hardly 'looks' capable enough to handle anything.

Jay, already used the saw on the front fender and rear quarter, the problem is the inner wheelwell and spring perch under articulation. Im just wondering which wheel to go with.

My 235/85 stuff in very deep without rubbing with stock wheels.

"but a stock D1 hardly 'looks' capable enough to handle anything."

Looks can be deceiving.
