I have an Arabian Gulf Countries spec 1996 Disco that comes complete with a radiator the size of a small refrigerator and a speed alarm set at 120 KPH. Does anyone know how to "disable" that bad boy? It's really annoying as the speed limits here are 120 KPH and mostly optional anyway. The BEEP BEEP BEEP is driving me and Ms. Daisy crazy! Thanks in advance! |

I had a car in Saudi Arabia that had the same problem. The solution then was just to crawl underneath and unscrew the speed sendor from the transmission! It was a rental car so had the advantage of dramatically lowering my mileage as well! You might not want to do that since it is you vehicle. Probably something that can be easily adjusted via testbook? |

Pugsly, I drove a 1989 Range in Saudi, when I was there from 1991-94. It didn't have this annoying beeper. I've narrowed it down to 3 wires, but was hoping for some help before I start cutting. Looks like mostly NA LR owners here with Cats and no beepers. I got beepers and no Cats. Guess I'll start snipping! |

I know that the RR (4.0/4.6) has an adjustable beeper, which I assume can be locked/adjusted/set via testbook. As long as the beeper is only used for the speed warning I would just cut the wire. If you find that you have lost some other sounds that you miss you can always hook it back up again! |

I also have a 1999 RR 4.0. It has the settable speed warning you described, via the left column switch. It's great, because you can turn it on and off. The damn Disco is hardwired. |

I set my RR to ping at 85 (mph), I find that is pretty handy. If I'm driving faster than that it is usually with windows down sunroof open and radio blasting, so I'm not bothered by the ping. |

Ahhhh...this is rather a social issue. How to have a conversation with BEEP BEEP BEEP going off from under the dash. You know, point to the camels and sand with witty remarks to impress the girls. I was tempted...tempted mind you...to have my buddy hold the wheel while I stuck my head under the dash to find that BEEPer box. But reconsidered...read whimped out... at those speeds. So, back to cutting wires, taking her out at 125, putting wires back together, and cutting more wires! UNLESS...there is someone with a wiring diagram that can help me!?!!? Sandman |
