Coolant is low and i just want to make sure I use the correct kind. thanks. Manual says Dex-Cool with OAT inhibitors. I didn't see the OAT on the bottle.

The question should be..."Why is the coolant low?"

I have 2 d2's both that had radiator swaps under warranty for leaking around the passenger side end cap of the radiator. One of the new one's is leaking now too. Bad design with 100% failure rate. Seems like the first time you flex the truck to it's limits the radiator starts leaking from an end cap.

Lyman,

I just ordered a radiator from AB to solve the exact problem you describe. Has there been a redesign? Or is this going to be a $250.00 on-going maint item?

My coolant seems low all the time too. No leaks. I just had the pressure checked last week and it was normal. Wonder where it's going?

Check on passenger side frame rail, mine only seeps when is sits for several days in very cold weather. You'll see a drip and wetness on the sway bar frame mount. It could have something to do with plastic end cap and aluminum core having different coefficients of expansion....and frame flex with a radiator that is too stiffly mounted...

Just had three d2's in my driveway all with the same problem.

Lyman,
I noticed mine puked some coolant in a parking lot @ lunch the other day. Went home in a panic & ripped the shroud & grill off. Sure enuf, damp frame rail @ pass side. No coolant loss since then though. Ordered the manual w/ the radiatior, how hard is the swap for someone who's done this many times b4 on other vehicles? Any hidden pitfalls I need to look out for, should I R&R the t-stat w/ 50k on it?

One more thing? Do they have a habit of letting go all @ once, or do they just seep?

Mine have all seeped. Got up to a quart a week on the worst one. As I am doing some long range trips both North and South of the borders I am concerned, but I don't think it calls for bringing a spare, just a watchful eye.

Hour swap. Be careful of the upper hose vent. Dealer fried my wife's alternator by venting coolant into it.

So i have been adding coolant/water and it is the same thing over and over now. Add to the cold line/drive it a little and then it goes back down about 2" and stays there. What could be going on? I never even noticed this before. I live in GA so it is not that cold here - around 50F in the day and 30F at night. Any suggestions? What about adding stop leak or something like that. I saw one the other day that is compatible with Dex-Cool but....

thanks for all the responses - sounds like others have the same issue.

For those of you swapping the radiatior, an additional step not covered in the factory manual is to remove the airbox & battery box. This will cut the time it takes by ~30 min. Also on the cooler connections, spray them w/ some carb cleaner to flush all the crud out & they will come apart a hellova lot easier
