My starter passed on this morning, and I was wondering if anyone knew just how difficult it is to replace one by myself, or will I have to tow the vehicle to the dealership? I know what I am doing under the hood, and as long as the whole engine doesn't have to be lifted I think I could handle such a task. Any info would be helpful.

it's easy.

just might want to use a little liquid wrench on those two hex bolts.

clean up the ground and other connections while you're in there.

Not to hard.

Disconnect battery cable!
Remove heat shield.
Remove two bolts that mount starter.
Disconnent battery cable from starter.
Replace starter.
Bolt for heat shield is behind the engine mount.
You will need an extention to remove one bolt from the starter.

Hey, my starter just started making noise like a bearing is going bad in it. Anyways, I've taken everything off except the two hex bolts. I'm here at school and only have limited tools, so can anyone tell me the size hex head i'm going to need?

I'm just going to get a local shop here in knoxvegas, TN to go through it after I get it off.

A standard 12 point socket will fit you do not need to get a hex head. I do not remember what size it was

The specs on Mean Green and British Starters are the same, the cost is not. Either way, can't go wrong. Martin, at British Starters, is a great guy to do business with. His price includes shipping and a lifetime warranty. Good Luck.

So what is the price of a mean green? I looked for a while but didn't see any listed prices.
