I have three warning lights that come on at times on my series II. I get the TC, the ABS, and the Hill Descent light all at once. Most of the time I get to drive a few miles before anything comes on -- but they all come on at the same time. The performance doesn't seem to be effected.

I thought it might be a sensor, but I heard through a friend that there might be a screw adjustment on the shift lever that might solve the problem.

Does anyone know about this problem or fix?
Is this screw adjustment what I need, and how do I get at it?

thnx
Elliott

The ABS computer has a fault code stored. Since T/C and H/D operate off of the ABS system all three lights illuminate. Usually the code is for a failed brake switch, wheel sensor or failed wiring to a sensor. You need to go to the dealer or an independent repair shop with the capability to read the ABS ECU. As a side note I have seen aftermarket brake pads and rotors set up a harmonic vibration that will "trick" the wheel sensor and activate a "wheel sensor erratic" code. Have you replaced your brakes recently?

It has been awhile on the brakes, but I do get the lights as soon as I hit a bump or pothole.

Thanks Ed!

Hey, I had this exact same problem on my 99D2. Took LR forever to figure it out. Now if they come on and stay on even after you shut off the engine, have them check the codes. My problem is that they would come on intermittantly. Stay off for a few days then on and off for a few days. Drove me crazy. Eventually, they replaced the SLABS computer (there was a early recall for SLABs on 99 D2's), which controls the ABS, HD and SLS in my case. That was fine for awhile then it started again. Eventually they replaced the ABS pump and now the problem seems to have dissapeared. Check the archives, maybe you can find my old thread. It as awhile ago and very furstrating. But that's why you have a warrantly on a new rig. Make sure you get the bugs worked out! Let me know if you have further questions.

Oh, and I will add that even when my lights were on, it was not trowing a code for Testbook. Very weird.

Sounds like you may have a bad ground or loose sensor wire. Try to follow the wire for the sensor (goes next to the brakeline) until it goes into the hub and make sure it has not pulled out at all. You can unplug the wires at the SLABS until and clean them with some non residuing electic cleaner then plug them back in once dry. I would just check out grounds, wires etc. Sounds like something is loose and throwing a fault when you hit certain bumps.

that happened to me on the 01 DII, i hit a pot hole really hard and fast and all 3 of those lights came on the dash. I pulled over and turned the engine and ignition off and re-started. Maybe a less serious version of the problem your having. I'm betting it was a loose connection, all 3 are tied together with braking controll. Another one of those charming faults Land Rovers posses.

Cheers

Jack
