I came across this at the store, plus I've read about man D-web users who use it in their rigs. I've got hard shifting when I go from Drive to Reverse. I was just curious if this product would help in my situation. How are you guys using it? Kris 99 DI |

kirs, when you say you have hard shifting do you mean that it isn't shifting into revers? like is it grinding? or are you just experienced a clink noise when shifting into reverse? if its the clunk sound then welcome to he club, a lot of us on here have it. if it is the "clunk" you can minimize it some what by shifting into reverse and then slowly giving it gas. if you try and shift quick and give it gas quickly you'll be maximizing the clunk sound. also, have you checked your ujoints and shafts? maybe they could use a little grease. as per the lucas stabilizer, i haven't used it myself, but i have been thinking about trying some in my motor. I'm in the 'clunk club'. Which I also thought was hard shifting. I could be wrong. I do need to check my ujoints and shafts, which I plan to do this week. What's the best way to check them? Do I just pull off the shafts and re-grease? What type of grease? thanks. |

I use Lucas in my '62 Series 2A rig. Transmission - 33%. Transfercase - closer to 50%. Diffs - 33%. Keeps things a bit quieter. Your clunk is in the autobox transmission. The oil stabilizer is for manual transmissions, diff's and engines. |

i dont know about the shafts on the 99's but my 96 has zerks. one at each ujoint coupling, and one on the shaft itselff. just climb under your truck and feel around for the zerks on the shafts and joints. The shaft will invariably be rotated in such a way that the zerks will be facing up, making them hard to see , but if the 99s are servicable then they are there. you may need to inch the truck forward so that you get the shaft to ratate around to where you can see the zerks. Buy a grease gun with a flexible hose it'll make it easier to access the zerk nipples. |

Thanks Eric and Jason. Does anyone else know if there are grease nipples on my u-joint? I'll find out tomorrow for sure tomorrow night. I purchased some Mobil 1 grease for this job. |
