Hi all,

I was getting in my 96 disco today and noticed the leather driver's seat is starting to crack a little. Now that I have larger tires I am sure my ass will drag on the seat even more when I get in. Then I looked at my passenger seat and it is mint. Anyone switch seats to even out the wear and get a new comfy ride? Kinda like rotating the tires! My seats are not power.

Thanks.

James, some people will probably ridicule you for caring about this.........but not me :-). I think the easiest way to do this would be just swap the seat bottom cushion. All you have to do is unfasten the upholstery from the seat frame and it and the foam will come out as one unit. You dont even have to take the seats out.

Hey Matt. I have thick skin so I won't be offended if people laugh. I can see the humor in the question myself. I don't worry about the truck as it has branch marks and scratches all over the goddam place and I just finished trimming (10+ inches) off my rear fenders with a cuttoff saw accross a line I drew with a marker.

Why let a seat get all screwed up and rest you ass on a shitty cushion that will just get worse when there is another seat 12 inches away that looks like it just came out of the show room?!

My main question is if the bolt pattern is the same and are there like four bolts or 40? In other words can I just swap it over in 20 minutes without drilling?

James, to answer your question--I dont think so. The lower base mounts higher on the console side than the door side, so you cant just plug and play. You might be able to take the whole seat off of the bottom brackets, but I doubt without a lot of effort. The seat cushion comes off with four long clips (at least on a D2), I would guess it is similiar on yours or it may have hog rings. If you want to get an idea of what I am talking about look in the tech section about adding heated seat elements on a D2. James I like to keep my truck clean as a whistle and clean it usually right after I go wheeling so I am used to people giving me hell about caring so much.
