the only way to get airsuspention is with a D2 with SLS. TD5's were'nt offered untill the D2. You could in theory put a TD5 in a D1, if it will fit that is, but transfering SLS from a D2 to a D1 would be near imposible. With what you listed you want a D2.

Cheers

Jack is right...you can't get a TD5 in the USA (well you can, but no one has the autologic for it)...TD5s are supposedly slow...lots of differences between D1 and D2...do some searches...

Td5's are VERY slow. I mean compared to even my 4.0 V8 d1. We had a new TD5 Defender 110 in england this summer from a great landrover hire company. Soo slow. But gas prices are crazy. My aunt has our old 96 D1 3.9 V8 in london and it costs her about 60GBP to fill up. Thats not pretty.

im currently living in sweden and gasprise is about 5,50$ a gallon! so i drive over 40 miles a day so my economy could be ruinet with an V8! but IF the gasprice were low i definitively had an V8!!! (sond, pover torque is great!)
prises on an -97 discovery is around 13 000$ and spare are CHEAP when i can order them toll free from england (inside EU). so for me a diesel is only alternative! and what comes to TD5 and 300TDI i think TD5 i like a rocket compared to tdi 300....

cheers

Jan, get a 99 D1 with the 300TDi, normal anti roll bars, puit some good suspension on it and bushings, and ENJOY
No such thing as a TD5ed, SLSed, FF, D1...
OR...get a P38 Rangie with the BMW diesel

To Tim '92 RR :

we have a political party "the green party" who ""cares" of enviroment and they are pushing hard to get gastax as high as possible to save the enviroment! (meaning if the gas price is high enough you take buss and train and carpool instead of you own car) and during the Iraq crises gas price was up in 6.20 a gallon! diesel car have allso have heavy "road tax". car like discovery have a tax of 1400$ a year. but if you make over you disco to "light truck" ie rip the rear seats out and fit a cargo bar you get low tax (120$ year). so life is not easy everytime!
=))
maybe a sollution to move to US?
=))

have a nice day!

Jan,

There would be a lot fewer of us Land Rover owners here in the States if we had to deal with your gas prices. Anyone know if I can swap my D2 engine with that of a Toyota Prius Hybrid! Maybe the new Highlander Hybrid.
