I recently purchaced a set of plain Land Rover 5 spoke 16" aluminum wheels for off-road tires. I was planning on using the center caps off on the 18" Prolines that came stock on my 2002 Disco. I was disappointed to find that the diameter on these caps is slightly smaller than the center hole on the 16" wheels. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Where can I get a set of center caps to fit the 16" wheels? |

I'm pretty sure the "plain" wheels I referred to in the previous post are the Tornado type. Does anyone know where I can pick up some center cap for these? Thanks. |

Tornado's are for a D1, that would explain the difference in cap size. Check the bolt pattern before you go any further, you'll probably find that your new wheels have too large of a bolt pattern to fit your D2.... |

Chris, I'm pretty sure that you can get the replacement cap from the Dealership for a pretty decent price. I had to buy one or two for a set of wheels the other week, and IIRC they were only about $5 each. Not too bad considering the source... Lyman - This is a picture of one of the 16" wheels that I called "Tornado". Saw a similar set on the Riversland website, which they called Tornados. Not sure if that's what they actually are. Can anybody tell me? Already have them installed on my Disco II and they work fine. Nathan - I'll check with the dealership - Thanks. |

I need one too! Searched the net and they cost $16-20. My wife used the truck to Wal-mart and when she returned, it is missing one and clearly was pryed out of there. I am so pissed. This guy probably is now selling on ebay. |

The dealer doesn't sell them for very much. About $5/ea. You can try ebay. I've seen them there before but it's not really worth the effort for such a small $ amount. |

Yep, They are D2, I think they are called Mirage. Caps for 18" and 16" are the same. Little bit of clear silicone will keep them from falling out in the cold. |

Chris, I THINK that style of wheel is called the Stratos(PN RRC115080). The Tornado wheel is the wheel that came standard on the NAS Defenders (PN ANR5307). Here's a pic of one.

Yep, damn, It's not the mirage...thats the one that has rounder spokes....I will say I have 10 of whatever they are out in my driveway....along with 5 of the Tornados... RTV silicone is your answer... |

I feel like a complete idiot. I was skeptical that these wheels are supposed to be the same size because all of the caps fit very snugly on the 18" wheels but are fairly loose on the 16s. I measured them in cm with a tape measure. The differences are small, right at 5cm for the 16s, just under for the 18s. All I did was push out the plastic flanges that catch the inside of the wheels and now they fit pretty snugly. I think I'll go ahead and put on the silicone just to be sure they stay put. Thanks for the input! Not that it matters, but I still am not sure about the name for those wheels. |
