This is a new one, i get out of my car, take the key out but the battery light stays on. The radio doesn't work, the fuel pump is going and the fan is going, but no electronics inside the car are working. ummm help! My battery is dying and i can't stop it, anyone know what would cause this? I have an 1988 Range Rover

Sounds like a back feed or a stuck relay. Pull fuses one at a time until it drops out and then you have narrowed the cause..

Stephan

I would say that one of the diodes in our alternator is bad, or maybe the ignition switch.

Alternator caused this same problem on my 89 Classic. Had it rebuilt and problem solved.

It's the alternator. It was installed a few days ago (purchased from Alternator Starter Express) with a 3 year warranty. They are sending a new one and we should have it installed by this evening. I'll let you know for sure if it was the alt.
