I am searching for an after-market rear bumper that looks just like the D1 bumper. I saw it last week but can not find it and I have searched the archives. It follows the same lines and has a diamond plate on top. It is not the Safari gard orRockware bumpers. I was looking for the Greg Davis bumper but can not find it. I am thinking that it may be one of his, not sure though. |

I think the one you're talking about is a TJM rear bumper. http://www.expeditionexchange.com/tjm/morepics.htm |

They're a bit longer than the stock bumper so they stick out past the spare tire a bit but the theory is because they're heavier duty than stock, getting dragged around a bit isn't that big of a deal when wheeling. On the street though, I think it would be nice to have someone hit the bumper first before the tire. Less damage. I don't have one of those bumpers but I like them. I'd consider getting one and they maintain the stock look. I guess it kind of depends what your criteria is for this bumper. If it's mainly off-road, you probably won't like the extra length that much but if it's on-road, I don't see any negatives about it. |

Great bumper so far. Nice to have a bumper wide enough to sit on. Have also hit quite a few 5" steel poles with no damage yet. You do not need to add the HD springs in the rear to support its weight. Would recommend a rear skid plate though. I have hit the gas tank more than I have hit the bumper on stock height D1. Also, if you do buy the TJM, make sure you install all of the hardware in case you do drag.

You guys know of any aftermarket D2 bumpers? I see TJM doesn't make one. |

I would also be interested in an aftermarket d2 bumper. My stock bumper is hanging on a wing and a prayer. |

Scott, I will second Rian about the TJM rear bumper. So far, it has been great and I also chose it to reduce the chance of the spare pushing in the rear door, as well because it keeps a lot of the stock lighting. It's a two person job getting it in place (at least it was for me ;-) and you'll need to drill some holes in it and the frame (truly, take time to read the directions for this thing, as they are a bit confusing) and open up the ends of the frame horns to install all of the hardware (recommended, as Rian said, and you'll need to replace the lashing point bolts, too) and, yes, I also plan to install a fuel tank skid plate ! Just gotta figure out which one will work with this bumper or can we make one that would work better (for less) ? If you've got the time, you can even "fettle" the lower brackets to fit perfectly so that the two recovery points' holes are perfectly aligned (you'll need a can of spray paint, too), but it's not a worry, since you'll be better off using a shackle in the hitch receiver. It is a nice bumper for lunch on the trail, too. On our first outing with it, we became the club's impromptu picnic table for the lunch stop. |

I have the Rovertym rear bumper. Nice product and fits like a glove. The look is neat as well with mold looking like the stock caps and covering the unsightly rear cornel panels on the bottoms. |
