I've been working on replacing my starter for a couple of days now, and the upper bolt holding the old one in is completely siezed. I tried putting some heat on it, along with some liquid wrench-type product and letting that soak in over night, but that bolt won't budge. If anyone has any ideas or techniques, i'd love to hear them.

Try tightening the bolt a little first then retry to lossen it. Sometimes you can free the threads or the washer if that's what's holding it.

use a 10" breaker bar with a 8mm hex socket.

I hope you're not trying to use a 3" allen key?

Also make sure you are using as few extensions as you can... its amazing how much flex multiple extensions have...

The hex head was stripped on the top bolt of my starter and I had to use a very small pipe wrench with a cheater bar to get mine loose. It really helps to remove the manifold heat sheild so that you have room to work.
