About nine months/ 10k miles ago, the transfer case on my 94 Disco was losing a pint of oil every 1000 miles. it was getting onto the hand brake drum and giving everything to the rear of the TC a fine coating of clean gear oil, including the rear window on long runs. I'd checked the breathers and was just waiting for the oil loss to be unacceptable to get it done. since November, the amount I've had to top up has steadily decreased, to the point where I've not had to do so for the last 3000 miles. Has anyone else had something heal up, or is this a sign that something is going to go bang soon? She's done 110k miles. |

When you checked the breathers did you blow/clean them out? If so it may have been the issue. Healing up is a rare situation - prolonging the symptom is not. |
