My '94 has a strange list to the rear right - about 3/4". It is RH drive, and that's without me in the driver's seat! Initially I thought it was my OME 762 springs, but after having swopped them around, the list is still there. This is a problem, because most of the weight goes in the right hand side of the cargo area (engel etc.) Nothing looks bent or otherwise out of alignment. Any ideas, or should I just fit a tallet spacer on the right hand side? |

are they 'matched' OMEs? if not you will need a trim packer. 10mm most likely. this will help even things out. |

Thanks Garrett, No they're not matched - DS & PS. Already have a 10mm trim packer in - didn't make much difference. It's as if something's forcing it down - maybe the previous owner stashed some gold bars behind the wheel well :-) |

Another thing: My first suspicion was the OME spring. I assumed that the one had collapsed, but only about 6k miles on them. What concerns me is the fact that it still lists to the right, even with a spring swop around. |

yeh well i have a 10mm packer in mine and it still leans a bit. might be just the spring. right side feels a little softer too in turns. just have not gotten around to dealing with it. once it warms up i will. might go with another spring just for kicks. big blue or something......... |

check out www.expeditionexchange.com they should list all the different lengths of the springs on the truck. my guess is that you got shipped two of the shortes ones in the set.? make sense? |

No, that doesn't make sense. Try this instead. Measure the height of your rear springs from spring seat to spring perch. If both springs measure out the same or nearly the same, the problem is obviously something else such as a crushed body mount or something.

Thanks for all the advice, and John, the right hand spring is about 20mm shorter in its compressed state. This is what baffles me: When I swop them around, more or less the same happens ie. the LH spring is now more compressed in the RH position. BTW, took the springs out this evening (now in SA)and measured free length. RH measures 399mm & LH 406mm. The difference aside, I'm a bit disappointed as this means the springs have sagged about 20mm since installation 6K miles ago! |

Runnerma - thanks! I found that the RH chassis bracket for the sway bar is bent up. I'm taking off the sway bar, so hopefully that'll sort it. |

be carefully when unbolting the sway bar. Np What I did is that I angored the sway bar near the bracket to the ground with a chain, and then uplifted the axle with the cars lift. when it was ready to unbent I helped it a litle with a *long heavy iron.(I dont know the right word)

A bent sway bar causes this. If you want to seriously measure vehicle height for purposes of troubleshooting "the lean", then you are supposed to remove the swaybar first to eliminate that variable. I have had both of my sway bars off to replace the bushings and it is no big deal. |
