Does anyone have measurements or written instructions on how to properly align the headlamps on a Discovery I (probably same for Disco II)? The dealership uses a special device/tool that clamps onto the headlamp, however I am looking for the "old-fashioned" method, of placing the vehicle on a flat surface a known distance from a wall, and then measuring height and spacing of the light patterns on the wall. I cannot find any such info in any of the Service Manuals. I guess the mere mortal is not supposed to attempt this task...

Thanks, good info! Guess Land Rover can't stoop to such a simple method, or I guess the accuracy of the dealership tool makes life easier than explaining how to measure and mark with masking tape!
