I am thinking about trying to put a RR Classic front end on my discovery. Has anyone tried this? My main question is are the bolt patterns the same for the side panels and hood hinges? They both have the 3.9L engine and for the most part the same dimensions. I this possible? |

Actually I have seen it done in a LR magazine. I dont know how difficult, but if I had to guess I would say it would be pretty hard, as I think the base of the winsheild is different and would present complications with the hood. |

I had a RRC bumper on for a while because I wanted to fit the RRC brush guard and it wouldn't fit over the disco bumper. Eventually I modified the disco bumper to fit with the RR 95' brush guard. I noticed that the disco grill, hood, and lights stick out further from the frame, so the RR bumper on my disco was almost flush with the grill. Also, the disco hood and grill is more round in front and the overall front width is greater, but if you use all the RR parts it may work. I just measured my RRC and the hood and fenders are very close in dimensions to the disco, so if you could do this the fenders may line up flush with the doors. The only problem is that the RRC hood hinges a foot from the windshield, so you would need to convert to the RRC piece that connects to the bottom of the windshield also, if possible. I also noticed that the RR's clamshell hood seem at the fenders matches the groove in Disco fenders. I would be interested to see if you could pull this off. Dave |
