I have the stock size on my D1 with 2" lift springs. I am considering 245 75 16 or 215 85 16, because they are about 30.4" in diameter. I drive it daily and don't want to hurt road performance too much, have to change the gears, or do some cutting. Is there a tire size out there, in this dia. that is wider than the 215 but narrower than the 245? I'm in MA and drive in snow. Any opinions on tire width? Will the 215's be bad on the road? Thanks, Dave |

Check the major tire co. websites. They have very specific data on tire size and rim requirements for each of their products. |

dave a buddy of mine had 215/85-16 on his RRC for much of the same reasons you describe and they seemed to be just fine in the snow (SLC). i think they were dunlops. also check on a 235/75-16 they are right at 30". marc |

Some sizes are harder to find than others. 225/75R16 is an easier size to find, is wider than the 215, pretty close to the original 7x16 (not 7.5x16), is an affordable size, etc. We went w/ 225/75 on the wife's since it's mostly her daily driver. On the Disco I used to have, I had 245/75, which needed a bit of trimming but wasn't noticable if you didn't know to look. FWIW...... -L
