Not sure if this belongs in tech, but it is Disco specific, so here goes. What were the trim levels for a 99 D2 & how do you identify them? Mine has every option (as best I can tell) except sunroofs, ACE, & 18" wheels.

I dont think there were differnt trim levels for the D2 when it came out but i could be wrong. It sounds like you got everything but the performance package.

sounds like yours is an SE, the higher of the two trim levels available at the time (there are 3 now), but like Nick said, w/o the performance package.

99 had no SE HSE SD etc. classification. It did have different trim levels. One trim upgrade came bundled with the premium audio IIRC. And then you had to pay some more for different leathers. And then more still for black paint. And then dual sunroofs, and ACE, and SLS, and heated screen/seats, and probably some other stuff I have forgotten about.

Correct... no designation in 1999 Series II. The designation "SD" was for 1999 Series I models (and that went for any option level).
On Series II, options were Leather, CCP, RSP, RAC, Dual SUN, CD, PPK (ACE), ICE, Lightstone interior & Black.
18" wheels came with PPK.

Alyssa: Am I right thinking that LR has removed ACE from the option lists in 04?

Yessir. No ACE in '04. SLS is standard on HSEs, and optional on S and SEs.

So while we are on the subject of SD's, what is entailed in the SD "Classic" package? Saw one at the dealer but didn't get to check it out.

If it's a Discovery, it's made up.
If it's a Range Rover, it is legit.
Sometimes dealers make up special editions. I thought that was an old school thing to do, though. (So you will mostly see it on much more "used" cars). We even had a "Polo Edition" traded in here at work. It had green polo players embroidered into the leather seats & special badging.

Thanks Alyssa.... It was a DII

The only thing I saw different (from the outside) was tan pin-stripping and the "Classic" logo. Given that it was a SD, I doubt they took the effort to embroider anything on the seats ;).

Alyssa,

I have a 98 SD but 98's only had LE and LSE designations as far as I know so does that mean it's a 99 SD but just tagged as 98?

Nope, in 1998, Canada still produced an "SD" model. In 1998, the only way you could get a Discovery with cloth (in NA) was in the Canadian market. LE, LSE, and 50th anniv were in the US.

Ahhh, ok. Thanks. Someone from LRM told me that only 5 SD's were shipped in that year. I guess no one wanted the "Stripped Down" version. :-)
