I've got some nice diamond plate laying around & I'm going to do this to my rear bumper (but painted in satin black). Any thoughts? Joe

How do you plan on attaching it? Not knowing how, my only concern would be corrosion between the two surfaces. |

Do you have an aftermarket bummper like that one? I don't think it will work on a stock one. |

How do you intend on mounting it? |

The picture is a TJM bumper. Here is a picture of one: www.expeditionexchange.com/tjm/DCP_1027.jpg It is mounted with screws. I'm going to cut it to fit the contour of the stock bumper. I will prime & paint both sides of the diamond plate. Just wanted some opinions before I try the experiment. Maybe just cut a piece of diamond plate to replace the ugly, plastic step thing on the bumper? That way I wouldn't actually be putting any new holes. However I would probably fix the dings/paint the rear bumper anyway. ?????? Joe |

I would think that the diamond plate might be too much weight for the stock bumper to handle and it might sag over time. Also, the diambond plate would be stronger and more rigid than the bumper supporting it. |

Christian, if he has aluminum diamond tread it would not be very heavy at all. |

Just be sure to prep it right if you use alluminum, I have some equipment, before I learned how to properly paint it, where the paint is flaking off my alluminum parts, and it doesn't look very good at all. |

LOL Christian. I got it! I would use some sort of gasket between them to keep the 2 different metals from corroding. Although if it is a stock bumper, it might be a good idea to let it rot, then buy something good! |

Yeah I know I should probably just buy a new TJM rear bumper...but like I said this could be a quick project just to try. I have some plate that is steel that isn't too heavy. I'm going to try to cut it this weekend. I'll take some pictures. Joe |

I like diamond plate as much as the next guy, but if you use too much you could be accused of being a Jeeper! |
