Hello there I'm from Somerset in the UK, I've got a 93 Disco 2.5 turbo diesel auto that I have owned for 3 months. I am pleased with the vehicle but I now have a problem. I wonder wether I could rack anybodies brains who may be "in the know". The transmission oil temperature warning light is on even when cold I have been for a journey say 3 miles with the light on stopped and pulled out the dipstick and the oil doesn't appear to be hot to touch. In the handbook it claims that this light will come on at extremely high tempatures which mine clearly isn't at. Does anybody know any other reasons why this light would illuminate. Even if the vehicle is cold and I can put it into P release the handbrake and turn the key to II position on the ignition and the light is on even without the engine running?????

Check the sensor. My US version did the same thing. |

Look on the transmission cooler line on the LF of the truck, near the bottom of the radiator. Unplug the sensor and see if you light goes out. If it goes out put a sensor in, if it stays on look for the other ground source. |
