I did a search and didn't find much. Its time to change the oils in my Transfer case and diffs. Anyone got a recommendation on using LOS with the gear oil? I noticed someone recommending 50% in tcase and 33% in diffs. |

Is that the correct percentage? I might try it. My '97 D1 has 110K miles, but I am having no problems. Just thought it might be preventative. |

That was 50% in a '62 SERIES IIA transfer case- not a DISCO SERIES II. Don't you use ATF, in a Disco transfercase? I would use synthetics were possible. You'll get better milage if you use them in the diff's. |

I put 90wt gear oil in my transfer box. 99 Disco Series I. Also put that in my diffs and I used synthetic. I'm going to try some LOS next time I renew the fluids. ATF goes in the transmission gearbox. (auto or manual) |

90WT in my '97 D1 Trans Case and Diffs. Dexron III trans fluid in the automatic transmission. |

You're right Eric, that was in a Series IIA. I was wondering if anyone ran that ratio in a disco. ATF goes in the transmission; GL5 in the tcase in my 98 DI. Since it came up, is LOS and synthetic gear oil redundant or useful? |

Probably a stupid question - but is this the same as diff additive that alot of people put in for Limited Slip Diffs ? Jeff |

Remember you can get LUCAS Gear Oil also. That's what I used... |

I've used 100% Lucas oil stabilizer in my diffs and swivels for quite some time on my D1. My wife's D2 acquired a leaky seal on the rear hub, I swapped it out with LOS and no more leaks there either. I like that stuff.. |
