Hi - have a very difficult to operate remote, bought another on eBay and notice a difference inside them... the new one has longer push-pins (the sticks underneath the area you press) for easier contact, and some of the assembly is soldered onto the circuit board. Whereas, in my original remote, the push-pins are shorter, and the assembly is not soldered-on, just looks like it's supposed to make metal-to-metal contact. Now, I'm curious about whether my original remote was supposed to be that way, or missed a step in production... or *something*. Does anyone know if Land Rover upgraded the remotes? That's what it looks like happened. Thanks |

The remotes did change. The Freelander remotes, even though they look exactly like Series I Discovery remotes are actually different inside. However, even in '96, the contacts should be soldered. Sometimes that solder joint breaks off & that causes the problem. |

Thanks ... let me clarify, that's a *96* and not an '06 Disco. But wow, I'd love to have one! |
