215 85 on stock 7" wheels? risky?

Is 7" too much for this size? I definitely regret not getting 245/75s. The 215/85 is great until you get over 60 mph when the steering becomes very unresponsive. On my Dunlop R/Ts the actual tread is narrower than even the stock size. They fit the rim fine, they actually taper in alot at the tread.
