Got to love my Disco. While putting new spark plug wires on last night (first warm day in a long time - that I had time to work on the Disco), I noticed my right hand exhaust manifold was cracked...

Of course I had to show my wife and she told me to fix it of course :-) Now I get to order my new headers and she doesn't mind. I Love my wife...she is just to good to me. Of course I will need my new O2 sensors and new Cats while I am at it... and she said okay.

99k on a '97 Disco.

Ordering them from Summit Racing... they are headman headers. HED-39800-6 (Ceramic Coated) $309.88 I have talked to Bill Rhoads he basically said I needed a washer on the drivers side motor mount to lift the engine just a hair for clearance, and found the following info. I edited to price to reflect the correct price and removed the name of the original poster.

"Only headers I've found in the US are Hedman Headers. Summit Racing (mail order house) 1-800-230-3030 has them for $119.88 Part number 39800. These are for a '87 Range Rover, but may work for the D90. There's other sources in the UK and Australia if you want to pay high bucks and high shipping. You can also have them "Jet coated" for around $300 but that's way too rich for my blood. (Jet coat is a high temp ceramic coating). I think the Jet Hot makes them lot's quieter.

Good luck,
Yes the Rangie headers are out there, and they will work for the D90...My pair should be in in about a month...Call headman directly (their service number, not the dealers) and chat with them.

The part number is: 39806 (I'm not sure if it's coated or non-coated)...If your still having trouble call Bill Rhoads at (505)471-3888...He'll give ya' a screamin' deal on them too!"

I spoke to Bill and he said you need the washer on the engine mount. He said the RH drive ones work fine.

I know that AdrianS has them in his 91RR and they work fine. He had someone install them along with two cats and a flowmaster, I think he paid around $250 for the install.

BTW: the part number is 39800 for the uncoated and 39800-6 for the ceramic coated.

David, change of plans on the Summit racing headers (Headman headers). I just got off the phone with Summit Tech support and the guy acually suggested I buy the non coated version and have them sent to www.jet-hot.com and have them coated there. (coated inside and out, vice just outside)

I called Jet Hot, and for $346 shipped to my door they are providing me with the 39800 headers from Headman and coating them inside and out for a lifetime rust warrenty and 3 year coating warrenty.

Also, I called Bill Rhoads back and he said that on the Disco I shouldn't have any issues installing these and worrying about rubbing...but as always be prepared for little issues.

so no worries with the header hitting the steering shaft? i assumed thats what the washer was for on the drivers side. and oh yea, Jet Coat its the way to go. inside and out for sure. that should keep the heat down and improve flow. are you still running the stock muffler. or you sporting a flowmaster. either way it will sound great. So your still a couple months away from install, be sure to follow up the saga with pics if you can.

David, as per Bill, he said that if there was any rubbing issues it could be cleared up with one washer.

Yes I have a flowmaster series 40 Delta.

As far as a couple months, I would say more like 3 weeks if all goes well. Jet Hot told me about 2 weeks to my door, and all the other stuff should be here in about a week. Just drive to my local muffler guy and have him do the cutting and welding...at $20 an hour.

I don't expect seat of the pants speed, because this is not a race car, but I do hope for some fuel economy increase at the vary least. Between the headers and removing the fan and installing the Flex-A-Lite 295 I should be ok...
