I just bought a roof rack for my Discovery that does not have the light mounting tabs like the "adventure" roof rack. So I'm guessing my only option is to drill though the cross bar and "though bolt" the lights to it ( I think thats what you would call it). anyway, I am worried that the holes I drill will give water/humidity ( I live in south Florida at the beach where salty air reaks havic)can cause rust very easily. My question is,,, would I maybe be able to drill the holes, then fill the holes with an expanding foam, like an insulation foam for doors or body panels which would prevent moisture from entering, or would a rubber grommet/o-ring or even silicone work just as well? that way once the bolts where inside the tube of the roof rack, there would not be room for moisture to get in either. Or would I be wasting my time with any of this and just not worry about it. I just know how easily my ladder started rusting/paint flaking and dont want the same thing to happen to the whole roof rack. Thanks and sorry if this is a dumb question.

Chris, i'd stay away from drilling, they rusting pretty easy even without it. You can get clamp-style mounts, or manufacture your own pretty easy. (there are two clamp-ons that i can tell right from top of me mind - for wilderness rack, and another ones from con-ferr)

Chris, if I were you I'd look into having some light mounting tabs welded onto the rack, then painting them to match the rack.

Clamp-on CB antenna mounts will work, too. Any truck stop will have them.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I pass a few truck stops on my way back to school. I'll check on the mounts there, and also the other companies suggested too. While on the subject, its the Expedition roof rack for Discovery's. so the lights will have to be mounted upside down (bolts on the top, which seems to be upsidedown with most other fog/driving lights I've added to vehichles, is there any waterproofing or specific light models I should look for? What do you all use/prefer? trying to prevent as much hood glare as possibe.

You'll have hood glare with the Disco roof rack.

Just don't go with the fog lamp. Those lights project a lot of light towards the ground, which, if mounted on your roof rack, will in turn project toward your hood.

I suggest cornering beam Hella 4000s for your roof rack. Nice and broad beam pattern.
