The Disco (99 II) starts to flash the M and S lights, etc after getting gas today. I am dropping it off tomorrow to get checked out, but I was wondering if others have had this problem alot, and what does it usually turn out to be? Search did not turn up much, and it is under warranty until June... |

Chuck, it's actually in your owner's manual, believe it or not. When they flash, it means there was an electronic fault with the transmission. It will usually go out if you turn the car off & back on. It generally indicates that your car battery is on the fritz. (and since you have a 99, that very well may be). Of course, it could also indicate an actual problem with the transmission, but that's not too common. |

yea, the manual is how I knew it was a tran. problem. The light stayed on after turning the car off and on several times, but today it is not happening. I will have the battery checked, but I think it is less than 2 years old. The battery would make sense, though... |

If there is a low current from the battery to the trans it will cause the lights to flash and keep you in 3rd gear. If your trans and battery are ok you are safe. ZF has experienced a gremlin with this situation. Let's hope your trans is OK. JOHN |

have had similar symptoms. But....dealer checked it out and said no worries. It has occurred twice with me. First time on a hill - placed in park and then re-engaged. Second was when truck sat for a week. This would seem to lend credibility to the battery theory but...i got these errors a while back - I have never replaced the battery.
