Yeah, it's a Land Rover. They all go bad. Mines been out for two years. You either have a crack in your cruise control "bulb" (it holds the air) under your hood or the hose that connects to the bulb has popped off or has a crack in it. Check to see if your hose has come loose.

Frank..........definitely check/ replace your vacuum hoses for the CC (they're 9yrs old!). I popped the hood today, grabbed a section of the cracked hose and went down to NAPA. $5 bucks worth of hose (I over estimated) and 5 minutes to install & the CControl was up and running. May not be the only thing wrong, but start w/ the cheapest fix first.........Barry

Frank,

Try things in this order:

1) Replace hoses - 10' of 3/8in fuel line hose (fuel line hose is reinforced)

2) Replace "T" fitting as part of hose replacement

3) Check servo diaphram on accelerator linkage for cracks and to make sure it holds vacuum.

4) Check the brake switch (the button behind the brake pedal)

If not any of these things, it gets a little more complicated:

1) Check the vacuum pump next behind the driver's side headlamp assembly.

2) Does the master light come on at the power switch? Do a search of this board and find the cruise electrical troubleshooting procedures.

3) Steering column - You will have to have a manual for this because you are messing with the SRS. There is a "collar" on the steering column that allows the steering wheel to turn while still maintaining electrical connectivity. This has found to be the culprit rarely.

4) If not any of the above, it is your cruise ECU behind the glove box. That was my problem. Costs about US$180 to buy.

All of the above systems are connected, so you should be able to find them easily under your hood and under your dash.

Your problem should GENERALLY fall under the easier things to check.

If the hose or servo diaphragm is cracked, could this cause a leak similar to a vacum hose leak on an intake manifold. Resulting in a fuel/air mixture problem.
