Ive had my 98 disco for a little over a month now and just noticed that one of the wheels has a locking style lug on. I dont have the key. How can I get this bugger off without tearing up something? Is this something a dealership can help/screw me with? Thanks.

Injun,
Yah'ta'hey! This may sound crude, but we got 4 locking lugs off a car once with a large pair of vice-grip pliers! If the nut isn't overtightened, it should come right off.
If that doesn't work, try a locksmith! They have oversized sharp splined sockets that tap on over the locking lug.

body shops have those sockets for about $15.00...sort of negates wheel locks.

Thanks for the responses. So these keys arent real specific or unique to a certain model or VIN. Time to break out the vice grips.

getting one to match your locking nut is futile. head to a local garage and they can get it off for you. it will ruin the lug, but they will get it off. just have a spare handy to put on. it is just a special socket that grips the lug and spins it off. tears up the head that is all.
