Was out the other day with a couple of guys in the GWNF (you know who you are) and did several very deep water crossings...On cleaning and inspection I found that not only had water gotten into the airbox it ended up in a lot of other places it shouldn't be. The breather hoses for the axles terminate much lower than the airbox, so I took out the front and blew some air through it. Yup, water came out. Next changed the oil in the front diff.....I'm pretty sure fluid shouldn't drain out when you take out the FILL plug! It did, and quite a bit too. Also, a couple of drops of water came out of the swivel housings as well. I need seals on one side so that is to be expected I guess, but water came out of BOTH! Since my D1 is long overdue for service, I am draining and refilling everything, but I though this would be helpful and sobering for others out there who have been up to deep wading antics lately (especially those with high mileage vehicles like mine!)
