Hello,

What are the recommended maintenance service for a 60k 2000 Disco II? How much if I take it to a independent shop or dealer? I'm Planning to DIY any small jobs.

Thanks.

My dealer just charged me $1,200 for a '01!!! I think that is absurd.

I heard they start around $900 at the dealers. It pays to know somebody though because I just had mine done by my brother-in-law who's a mechanic at LR South Bay for nada. I was quite thankful I didn't have to fork over $1000!

$655 Land Rover Buckhead
Atlanta, GA
Ya'lls labor rates must be out of sight for it to cost 1200. I talked to my service guy about the 60k last week and the varying prices and he said that it had to be due to labor rates as every dealership "should" be doing the exact same services.

I thought I heard that out here in L.A. the rates were about $175/hr. That would explain the $1200 price tag.

Good lord that is expensive per hour. Are lawyers working on your car? That is out of control. I think ours in ATL is around 75-85.

I am the one with a $1200 bill...Knauz in Lake Bluff, IL (near Chicago). I have to admit that they do a great job though. I love that if you request, they will always give your Rover to the same tech. Also, '04 Disco's as loaners...nice touch, but still too fucking expensive!

Not there yet, but suggest that for that kind of money it would be wise to drive to the most "cost effictive" rover dealer in the US for the best 60K service...

Is that what you were quoted or charged? Sounds like they did more than a 60K. Maybe some brakes? Check your bill.
BTW, LR Anaheim Hills in Orange County only charges $97.50/hr., 28% less than all other dealers in the area.

John,

I checked out your site; very nice. If I get sent to Edwards AFB next year, I'll look you up.

Yureg, I would hesitate bringing your Land Rover to a Jaguar center. Give my Service Writer, Eric, a call. Have him deduct what you can do yourself and save significant $. At the least, keep it in the Land Rover family and call Inland Rovers @ (909) 354-5400. Ask for Gordon. They own and work on Discoverys!

John,

Thanks for the info. I'll definitely going to call Gordon. I did check their site http://www.inlandrovers.com/gpage1.html seems like they have a nice slider.

Does anyone know of anything that can be done to make a Disco 2 run well on 87 octane fuels?
