I wish to replace my 97 d1 motor with a carberated version and was wondering if I do this will the trans shift with out the computer on board or do I need to build a motor that has efi ?? thanks

I am not sure what you are trying to accomplish, but your transmission is not electronically controlled. You should be fine.

ok thank you i'm applying the KISS method to this truck ( keep it simple stupid ) It has a 100 k and just blew a head gasket, so if I'm going to rebuild I would like to know my options
your input is most welcome thanks very much

But what about the ignition, thats all ecu controlled and without the efi not sure it will work. Suspect you may have to swap to a 95 or prior distributor system.....
