Does anyone have any suggestions for front end recovery points on a newer Disco? I've got an '03 and I'd like to add a couple of JATE rings up there... am I going to have to cut through my bumper?!

there should be a recovery poing behind the air dam that is accessible through an outer cover. Check the owners manual under towing. Jates would be better, but you will probably need to cut through your bumper. I would suggest just getting a new bumper though. the stock one will be cracked up and look like crap after a few ouitings. At least if you wheel like me it will.

thanks, Rick... I'll check on it. a new bumper would be nice, but that's a ways down the line on my list of things to buy. nice profile pics... now I want a snorkel!

I'm still using the stock recovery point for the front. I haven't put recovery points on my bumper yet. I put the ARB bar on my '03 and like it. It lets you keep your stock fog lights and headlamp washers. The install was easy and it was less than $800. I think most others will tell you not to get it though.

You should have seen it last weekend then. Got a little stuck in some deep water/mud.

So the ARB fitting instructions for the bull bar say "THIS PRODUCT OR IT'S FIXINGS MUST NOT BE MODIFIED IN ANY WAY". I think it also has a warning on the inside of the bar that nothing should be mounted forward of the bumper. I plan on ignoring these warnings to put JATE's or shackle mounting brackets for front recovey points. I've seen these on lots of bars including the ARB. Should I do this or heed the warnings?

Kristin,
From what I saw when taking my stock bumper off to fit the ARB, I didn't see any good mounting places to put a front recovery point anyway. The only thing behind the stock bumper are the rails it attaches to.

Shane, DO NOT DO THAT! I tried the same thing and bent the shit out of my new bar the first time I tried using the recovery points. It was a very expensive lesson!

Where did you put them on the bar? I would think that if you put them right in front of where the bar attaches to the frame it shouldn't bend. The tension should be transmitted directly to the frame. I haven't checked to see if this is feasible though. If that's not an option, can I put another "stock" type recovery point on the passenger side?
