i cant remember who it was but there seem to be some interest in the UNIMOGs. in the lil po-dunk town i work there is a dealership names Hatfield Autos (london, ohio) and well on my way to work i noticed an older Mog sitting out front, to make a long story short, they are now selling Milt., Construction and the type for sale. they appear to have been brought over from germany and not from canada or some other place the are found (all the instructions are in german, but what do i know). so if you have a desire to buy one or get parts this may be a source.

FYI-

Freightliner is marketing the new Mogs in the US. Freightliner is a subsidiary of Daimler/Chrylser, so it makes sense that a Mercedes truck (ie: Daimler) is going through Freightliner.

From what I understand, they aren't cheap!!!!
Possibly more than a Hummer(but worth it!).

I heard $70-80K for the new ones. But it comes with DUBS! I believe it is called the Freightliner U400 or something. That's a bargain compared to a new H1 which is around $90000.

Yes, I remember seeing some articles in the NY Times, one which had a chart with the silhouettes of a person, a Unimog and a Tyrannosaurus Rex! These are the search results for the articles:

For the Megagrowth Family, Daimler to Offer a Bigger-Than-S.U.V.

By KEITH BRADSHER (NYT) 1448 words
Late Edition - Final, Section C, Page 1, Column 2
ABSTRACT - DaimlerChrysler AG's Freightliner division plans to sell four-wheel-drive that is 9 feet 7 inches tall and 20 feet long and weighs 12,500 pounds; vehicle, called Unimog, will sell for base price of $84,000; Freightliner has initial sales goal of 1,000, with just 250 going to individuals and the rest to fire departments and businesses that plan to adapt them for civic and commercial use.

I remember reading an article on these in C/D or R/T and they said that you can actually tow 7 freight train cars on the track with these things! I also believe that said article also mentioned that they have a front and rear PTO. Hell, what else do you need except a bigger garage? Oh, and I don't remember, but are they street legal for the average (rich) owner, or do you need some kind of Commercial Permit?

For those interested in late model mogs, U1300-U2450 models. Here is where you can get them in the states. They are brought in legally with all the paperwork. I have seen quite a few from this company and they are very, very impressive.

The prices range from the mid-teens to 250k+, he has a couple of U1300Ls and several other variants.
Enjoy.
