K guys, Have a white '96 disco. My littel brother was driving it home from work this morning and decided to go through the car wash. He says when he went to leave the car wash, the disco started stalling. Like any little brother would, he drove it home anyways without trying to figure anything out, just kept the RPM's up. After he got it home, I noticed it's putting out a fair amount of black smoke. My first thoughts were that water somehow made it's way into the engine in the car wash. I have checked the air filter box, and all the fluids, and no sign of water. Next I would think it would be a valve, but, I put a used engine in this rover back in August. The engine now has 52,000 miles on it. I didn't check the heads or vavles because the engine was so low miles, (41,000) when I got it, and it came as a compleat assembly. I am really hoping its not vavles again as this is waht killed the last engine. Going to try sea foam green today and see if that does anything for it, but any advice at all would be great. I'm getting desperate here. Update on the green disco: Got the new engine in the disco and mounted up to the transmision yesterday. Now just need to hook everything back up and she'll be on the road again! |

car wash..... Give it some time to dry out, mine did the same thing last time I ran it through a touchless high pressure wash. My guess was that it got up to the plug wires somehow, but I could be completely wrong. I let mine run at idle for about half an hour and all turned back to normal. |
