I did the OBD scan over the weekend, got the following codes, none of which where the MAFS code the dealer indicated a few weeks ago. P0174 -system too lean -bank 2 P0171 -system too lean -bank 1 P0734 -gear 4 incorrect ratio Now curiously enough, after clearing the codes, the engine detonates(valve chatter)quite easily(might be a bad tank of gas), but any ideas why or what to look at that might cause these codes? |

I have a 99 DII and I have the same codes. From what I have read, it looks like the mass airflow sensor. That can be replaced for pretty cheap and it is easy to do. You might first try to clean it with electrical contact cleaner. I cleaned mine and they came back. It doesn't seem to be hurting anything so I am just living with it. |

I had the exact same codes on 00 D2. The 4th gear ratio incorrect was caused by a vacuum leak in the air box. New o-ring cured that. The others were cleared by a new MAF. |

thanks for the snappy replys. Looks i'll pony up for a new mafs, like the dealer said (crap I hate it when they're right) and that will probably clear up the whole mess. |
