my question is about the CDL on a 95 d1 5spd the question is how to replace one in my tc, do i have to split the TC and Trans or can i do it with it still on the motor.. what can i do or where can i look up what to do??? |

i believe that you can acess it and all the mechanism from the top. so you will have to remove the center consoal. remove some othe stuff like window switches. then drill out some rivits and pull up the inspection plate. i know that i am missing a few steps so if any one else wants to step in feel free. anyway this gives you an idea on what is involved. |

Michael, if you mean the CDL is stuck, here is a good link to fix. http://www.people.cornell.edu/pages/efe4/images/rover/difflock/discodifflock.htm If you mean it worked, and now it is broke. Then I would check linkage first before tearing in to the TC. But that is just me. |

i replaced the transmission myself something like two months ago all the linkege was replace on the tc and i even checked it before making the diagnosis, i also talked to the guy who supplied me the CDL and he said that is what it sounded like and the part was pretty cheap so i just ordered it and hopefully that will be the solution any other input would be greatly appreciated |
