I'm in the process of attaching a aluminum tread plate floor to the NWP rack and was wondering if anyone is using a buffer between the floor and the bars on the rack sort of like a gasket. I was thinking that it might cut down on metal to metal noise and prevent chaffing the powder coat down the road. Any suggestions on what to use? Or should I just bolt it down to the rack? Thanks - Mark

well, if it helps any i have a Wilderness rack on mine with a 1/4 steel flooring and i put old radiator hoses on the cross bars under the rack to help dampen the noise. just get the hose and an exacto knife and make a slit down it and fold it over the bars. i do have 2 bolts, one towards the front and one towards the rear to prevent it from flappin at highway speeds. |

I like the weather stripping idea. I'll have to see if I can get any locally. I was also thinking about spraying the underside of the flooring with rubberized udercoating but I don't know if it will stick to aluminum and look good.
