I was goin along the free way at 65-70 today had my foot steady and out of no where it puts gas on, then off, then on, then off etc. Not rough enough to throw you about violently, but it was deffiantly surging. Anyone have any sugestions, made me feel very out of controll.

Cheers

Jack

Jack its more than likely your VSS. It is located on the transfer case. If you are holding your foot steady then the truck should be letting off the gas and then regaining where you were. noticed mainly between 55-70.

Did you forget you were in cruise control somehow?

no i wasn't in cruise controll. Plug wires and fuel filter were the two things that came to mind first. I'll check them tomorow and see if that fixes it.

If the plugs and wires check out OK, check the VSS as Will recommends. Unplug it and if the surging goes away there you have it. Unpugging the VSS will also cause your spedometer to not work. I believe there is a write up in the tech section on the VSS it you need to know where it it located (on the transfer case).

It could be your TPS as well. I replaced mine and I have not had anymore issues on the freeway when I'm going between 65-75.
