I'm sure some folks know this, but an FYI for anyone looking for a place to have some fun:

Outside Wellsville OH (south east Ohio)is a large ORV Park, known as the 'Forbidden Zone' (eh?) but despite it's name is a great place to wheel. They have a good mix of mud, trails, creeks etc. Much of it is on firebreaks along hi-power lines. The owners had a problem last year with land useage, but are committed to the park. No facilities close by (not even for a crap, so take plenty of supplies) but for $7 a day, it's a blast. Should be enough fun for most rigs, but the better equipped will have more fun!
I have a mailing address and phone number if anyone wants to visit to check it out.

I made it out Saturday and had a great time. I went with 2 other really cool trucks from Dayton so it was really fun. Andy, did you try Twister or the other huge hill by the power lines?? I think it is called Chicken Hill, but one of the locals said it was called Chicken Coup because of the chicken farm on the other side. I talked to Bill at the Ohio Multi-Use Trails Association, he said that is should be free to enter, but some of the locals were trying to make people pay. He said that a farmer bought about 10 acres on the border of the 2500 acre area and he was trying to make people pay who entered on his property. If the farmer tried to make you pay you can just go out and enter somewhere else. Andy, where did you enter?? I went in over the railroad tracks along the river and went in for free.

Yeah, I paid - got suckered I guess, but, hey, it was only $7! I went out of town south down '7' and followed some signs out to a dirt road, then down a track. I found some guys at the top of the hill with a coupla 'dozers. They had cards and what seemed a reasonable story. It's difficult to tell who's got what land. So many trails had 'no trespassing' signs posted.

I went Sunday p.m - but was by myself. I didn't try the chicken hill (!) - chicken, I guess. But I did try some other trails which were along some power lines, but not the same ones. I had fun too. My RR always amazes me with what it can handle - only trouble is I can't see what it looks like!!

If anyone is up for it, we should get another date scheduled. Maybe we can invite JB of OVRC too - he's love it. I 'IM'ed Ike Goss, in Amsterdam (!) and told him - he wants to do it, too.

I think we were in different parts of the park. We did a lot of heavily wooded trails that led to a creek, and then eventually to Chicken Hill. Then I did Chicken Hill and we went back along the creek.
Ike and JB would both love it I think. It would be a 6 or 7 hour drive for each of them. I wonder how JB did on the Adventure Team Challenge.

Planning on taking a weekend trip to Wellsville. Is anyone interested? Matt, Rob, Mike?? Others? I was thinking sometime in August, possibly the 3/4. Let me know if you can make it. If not, we can meet up later, in September, perhaps.

I will be in Pebble Beach, CA from the 8th to the 19th at the historic races for work. Plus things are starting to get hectic around here trying to get everything finished. Anytime after that 3rd in weekend in August should be good for me though.
